Tournament regulations

16th Dr. Milan Vidmar Memorial Tournament 2005

 

1.

The Chess Federation of Slovenia is organizing the 16th international grandmaster chess tournament in honour of grandmaster Dr. Milan Vidmar from July 09-17, 2005 in Hoteli Bernardin, Pororož.

 

2.

The opening ceremony of the Tournament will be held on 09 July 2005 at 4.45 p.m. in the  playing hall – Aurora hall in Grand hotel Bernardin.

The reception of the participants and drawing of lots will take place on 08 July 2005 at 8 p.m. in the playing venue.

The closing ceremony of the Tournament will be held on 17 July 2005 at 3 p.m. at Hoteli Bernardin.

Playing time is 90 min +30 sec/move.

The Chief Arbiter is Mr. Janko Bohak, International Arbiter; his assistant is Mr. Primož Kokalj, Secretary of Chess Federation of Slovenia.

 

Decisions of the Arbiter are final. Player can address a written complaint to the Appeals Committee until one hour after each game. The Appeals Committee must reach his decision before next round, not later than 24 hours after the complaint has been made. The decision is final.

The Appeals Committee is composed of three members and two deputies, namely: Milan Kneževič, International Arbiter as a chairman, Aleksandr Beliavsky – grandmaster and Borki Predojević - grandmaster.

The directly involved player does not serve on the Committee, in such case he is replaced by the deputy. Deputies are Adrian Mikhalchishin – grandmaster and Nikola Djukić.

The game cannot be postponed, exceptions may be approved by the Chief Arbiter. In case of illness, the final decision is given by the Tournament Doctor - the Doctor on duty at the Medical Centre Piran.

The prizes are in total 8.200 EUR: 3.000, 2.200, 1.500, 1.000 and 500 EUR (tax included)

In the case of equal results the prize money shall be shared.

The average rating of the Tournament is 2533, which makes the tournament of the FIDE categoy XII. Five and half (5,5)  points are needed for the  Grandmaster norm and four (4) for IM norm.

In all cases not provided by these regulations the official FIDE Laws of Chees admited at the FIDE Congress at Calvia (vaild from 07.01.2001) or other FIDE Rules will be applied adequately.

All participants confirm these regulations by signing them before the first round is commited. The Tournament Regulations are signed also by the Chief Arbiter and the members of the Appeals Committee.
